Healthy Streets Index Austria

Projektbeschreibung

The Healthy Streets Index Austria (HSI-AT) is a basis for sustainable and climate-friendly design and improvement of street spaces in the context of planning processes, political decision making, awareness raising or participatory processes with stakeholders and citizens. The project provides a replicable, adaptable, digital tool that evaluates existing street spaces in Austria as a whole, assesses new planning as simply and transparently as possible, and systematically takes public health aspects into account. The central challenge of the project is the identification and processing of relevant indicators. These quantitatively measurable indicators will be designed following the Healthy Streets approach. Availability of the necessary data throughout Austria in the same or at least similar quality and are regularly updates are key requirements for the indicators. The pilot implementation will ensure the applicability and usability for the relevant application areas. For the development of the HSI-AT a cooperative approach is pursued, which in its inner core uses the competences and experiences of the experts of the project consortium and enriches these in the context of different cooperation formats with the competences and experiences of essential actors from the project environment.
